Annual Steak Dinner Fundraiser!!

SYA will be hosting it's annual Steak Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, September 20th at the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club. This is fun event includes a raffle, door prizes, horseshoes, and lots of other activities. Oh! and you get a steak dinner, too! It's an adults-only party where you parents and coaches get to meet one another and have a fun evening before things get too crazy. Click here for a flyer that contains more information. Registrations for Fall 2008 sports are still open. Please be sure to go to the page for the sport you are interested in to get more information, then go to the Forms page to download the registration form!

Fort Ritchie Community Center Grand Opening Celebration - September 27

Fort Ritchie kicks off a new era with the grand opening of its first new building since the closing of the former army post. At the grand opening event which takes place from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th, the public can come enjoy a variety of activities for all ages throughout the facility, including music by the country band Peterbuilt, a basketball hoops shooting contest, flower-planting, crafts, free snacks and giveaways, and more. At noon, the Center will be officially dedicated to the community in a short ceremony. The Fort Ritchie Community Center will offer a full basketball court, multi-sport room, fitness center, computer/reading room, craft room, meeting rooms, snack bar and locker rooms for use by people from all four surrounding counties. SYA SCHOLARSHIPS

SYA offers scholarships based on the FARM program and special needs. Scholarships can be used to pay for registration fees, and for equipment needs, and are awarded as approved by the SYA Board of Directors. To apply, please contact SYA at (301) 824-7707. As a non-profit organization run by volunteers, SYA is constantly in need of support from parents and other adults to do everything from running leagues to coaching to a host of other tasks that are required to make athletics available to the youth of our community.
