League
SYA Wrestling is a co-ed, regional wrestling program.
We wrestle as a team in the
Mason-Dixon Wrestling League. There are 18 teams in the league from
We have 3 home matches and 5 away matches during January and February. Then a qualifying tournament and league championship tournament the first 2 weekends in March. All matches are on Saturday or Sunday.
Wrestlers are matched each weekend based on three factors; 1) Age, 2) Weight, and 3) Experience
Practice
We will begin practice in mid-November.
Coaches will divide wrestlers into 2 groups. Group 1 will practice Monday and Wednesday, Group 2 will practice Tuesday and Thursday.
Practices will run from 6:15 pm to 8:15 pm
Wrestlers will need wrestling shoes, shorts and a t-shirt. No sneakers or street shoes are allowed on the wrestling mats.
Wrestlers may contact the coaches for used shoes (when available), or they can be purchased at one of the following:
Dick’s Sporting Goods, www.wrestlingone.com or www.wwsport.com.
Registration
Wrestling registration is $60.00 per wrestler.
This fee pays for tournament entry fees, participation trophy, league and team costs and a hooded warm up sweatshirt for each wrestler.
Pre-registration dates are Oct. 28, 4-7pm, Nov 3, 8am-Noon, and Nov. 4, 4-7pm at the Smithsburg Fire Hall.
